Frances Havergal an English poet, was born to an accomplished musician, who instilled in her a lifelong passion for knowledge. Educated in boarding schools in England and Germany, Frances learned several modern languages plus Greek and Hebrew. Although the theology of Havergal's poetry is somewhat Calvinistic, it still communicates a simple, childlike faith. She is acknowledged for fifty hymns and two hundred poems, such works as: "Take My Life, and Let It Be," "Like a River Glorious, "Who is on the Lord's Side?" etc. Her publications include "Opened Treasures" and "Kept for the Master's Use."
